Designed to measure total NAD from a single drop of blood sample – ideal for routine monitoring and research
Overview
Our NAD test enables at-home sample collection with just two drops of blood on a collection card – quick and easy. Dried blood spot samples can be shipped worldwide, making NAD testing accessible to a broad customer base. Our method is simple to implement, and we provide comprehensive support to ensure seamless integration for our partners. Our testing method offers unparalleled convenience for laboratories and end-users.
technical details
- Measures total NAD in all the components of the blood – NAD+ (oxidized form) and NADH (reduced form).
- Suitable for NAD analysis from dried blood samples. It is not suitable for fresh samples (liquid blood), serum or tissue culture. However, we could adapt the method according to specific customer needs.
- The testing process – from sample preparation to results – takes less than 6h. Most of the time the work is passive allowing to a reaction to complete.
- Method principle – enzymatic cycling assay. Specific enzymes react with NAD and related components to produce a colored dye. The color intensity is proportional to concentration.
- Key parameters: calibration range – 5–60 μmol/L (Figure 1), limit of detection – 0.23 μmol/L, limit of quantification – 0.40 μmol/L, coefficient of variation – 6.6%.
- External validation: validated against FIMM Metabolomics Unit (University of Helsinki) LC-MS (Orbitrap) (difference 1.1–25.9%, mean = 14%).
- Real world application demonstration in numerous occasions (Figure 2).
Figure 2. Real world testing data showcasing how supplementation efficiency could be monitored using our NAD testing. Examples of two cases, once customers tested daily before and after supplementation. Cases in blue – customers tested for 5 days to receive blank NAD levels, when started taking NMN. A clear NAD level increase could be seen. Customer who took nicotinamide, did not experience significant NAD level increase.
